About La Possession
La Possession is a French commune located on the island of Réunion, an overseas department and region situated in the Indian Ocean. It is positioned on the northwestern coast of the island, between the ocean and the highlands of the Piton des Neiges massif, and forms part of the arrondissement of Saint-Denis. The commune belongs to the intercommunal structure known as the Territoire de la Côte Ouest, which groups several municipalities in this geographic area of the island.
The name of the territory refers to the historical episode of French navigators taking possession of the island in the seventeenth century.
