Sobre Communauté d'agglomération - Bergeracoise

The Communauté d'agglomération Bergeracoise, often referred to by the acronym CAB, is a French public establishment for intercommunal cooperation (EPCI) bringing together several municipalities located around the town of Bergerac, in the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This administrative structure falls within the framework of French territorial organization, which allows neighboring municipalities to pool certain competencies and coordinate their development within a coherent geographic area centered on the Bergerac living area. Formed through successive mergers of communities of municipalities that progressively expanded their scope, the Communauté d'agglomération Bergeracoise was established to address the development challenges of a predominantly rural and wine-growing territory, while relying on the urban center that Bergerac constitutes. Its area extends over a group of municipalities belonging to the Bergerac region, an area marked by renowned vineyards, river valleys, and a varied architectural and cultural heritage, notably inherited from its historical past linked to river trade and viticulture. As an intercommunal body, the CAB exercises competencies granted to it by law or transferred by member municipalities in areas such as economic development, spatial planning, housing, transportation, waste management, and support for cultural and sporting facilities of community interest. It thus constitutes an intermediate level of local governance, between municipalities and the department, participating in the definition and implementation of public policies adapted to the specific characteristics of the Bergerac territory. Its action aims to foster territorial coherence and support structuring projects that go beyond the municipal framework. The la-cab.fr website is the institutional site of this local authority, presenting information about its organization, competencies, services, and the authority's news.
