Sobre Communauté d'agglomération - Durance Luberon Verdon Agglomération
Durance Luberon Verdon Agglomération, commonly known by the acronym DLVA, is a French intercommunal body classified as a "communauté d'agglomération," located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, within the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. This intercommunal structure brings together several municipalities situated in the southern part of the department, along the Durance valley and close to the Luberon and Verdon mountain ranges, from which its name is derived. Its administrative headquarters is located in Manosque, the most populous town in the area and the main urban center of the agglomeration.
Formed through the merger and evolution of earlier intercommunal cooperation arrangements, DLVA is part of the broader movement to streamline intercommunal structures undertaken in France over recent decades. As a communauté d'agglomération, it constitutes a public establishment for intercommunal cooperation with its own taxing power, governed by elected representatives from its member municipalities. This form of organization allows for the pooling of certain responsibilities and coordinated action across a living area that extends beyond individual municipal boundaries.
DLVA's responsibilities cover a range of areas typically assigned to French agglomeration communities, including economic development, spatial planning, housing, urban policy, waste management, and actions related to the environment and public transportation. The territory, characterized by a variety of landscapes ranging from agricultural plains to Provençal hills and protected natural areas, leads the agglomeration to pay particular attention to sustainable development issues and the balance between urban and rural areas. DLVA thus positions itself as an intermediary actor in territorial planning, situated between its member municipalities and the departmental and regional levels, contributing to the structuring of local public services and to the economic development of this part of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department.
The dlva.fr website is the institutional website of the local authority, presenting information about its organization, its areas of responsibility, and the administrative procedures available to residents of the territory.
