Sobre Communauté d'agglomération - Grand Cahors

The Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Cahors is a French intercommunal structure with the status of a public establishment for intercommunal cooperation (EPCI) with its own taxing authority. It brings together the city of Cahors, prefecture of the Lot department, along with a number of surrounding communes located in the Occitanie region, at the heart of the Lot river valley. This territorial organization is part of the broader movement of intercommunal cooperation that has developed in France over several decades, resulting from successive mergers of earlier communities of communes or agglomeration communities around the urban center of Cahors. The territory of Grand Cahors covers a mix of urban, peri-urban and rural areas organized around the Lot river and its watershed. This geographical configuration gives the agglomeration an identity that is at once heritage-oriented, agricultural and touristic, with the city of Cahors particularly known for its vineyards and architectural heritage. The intercommunal body exercises its responsibilities across this entire living area, contributing to the organization of local public services beyond the boundaries of individual communes. Like most French agglomeration communities, Grand Cahors exercises responsibilities in areas such as economic development, spatial planning, housing, urban policy, waste management, water and sanitation services, as well as support for cultural and sporting facilities of community-wide interest. It also intervenes in matters of mobility and public transport across its territory. This organization aims to pool the resources of member communes and carry out structuring projects that go beyond the communal scale, within a framework of territorial solidarity and coherent local public policy. The website cahorsagglo.fr is the official website of the Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Cahors, presenting its responsibilities, news, governing bodies and administrative procedures available to residents and local stakeholders.
