The Communauté d'agglomération du Bassin d'Aurillac (CABA) is a French territorial authority operating as a public inter-municipal cooperation body with its own taxing power. It brings together several municipalities located in the Cantal department, within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, organized around the central town of Aurillac. This inter-municipal structure fits within the French administrative framework designed to pool certain responsibilities among neighboring municipalities in order to ensure territorial coherence and coordinated management of local public services.
Formed from the intention to unite the municipalities of the Aurillac living area, the CABA has gradually expanded its scope of action since its creation. The CABA territory is characterized by a geographic diversity typical of Cantal, combining a structuring urban center around Aurillac with surrounding peri-urban and rural areas. It also participates in implementing public policies contracted with the State or other institutional partners.
