The city hall of Avignon is the municipal institution of the commune of Avignon, prefecture of the Vaucluse department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. Located in southeastern France, on the left bank of the Rhône, the city occupies a historic site marked by the presence of the papal court in the 14th century, during which several popes resided there. This heritage shaped a remarkable historic center, including the Palace of the Popes, the Saint-Bénézet bridge and the ramparts, an ensemble listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The commune, which spans an urban and peri-urban territory, constitutes an administrative, economic and cultural hub of the region.
The municipal administration is led by a mayor, elected by the municipal council itself chosen through direct universal suffrage of residents, assisted by deputy mayors responsible for thematic portfolios.
