The Communauté d'agglomération Grand Auch Cœur de Gascogne is a French territorial authority of the intercommunal type, governed by the general code of territorial authorities. It succeeded, through successive mergers, earlier intercommunal structures, including the communauté d'agglomération du Grand Auch, before adopting its current name. Its headquarters is located in Auch, the administrative centre of the Gers department, in the Occitanie region.
The territory of the agglomeration community extends around the city of Auch and brings together a group of rural and peri-urban communes in the Gers department, combining a central urban hub with an environment of small towns and villages characteristic of Gascony. This territorial organization aims to pool certain responsibilities among member communes in order to ensure coherence in the planning and development of the area around Auch, at the crossroads of rural and urban issues typical of this part of southwestern France.
As a public establishment for intercommunal cooperation with its own taxation powers, Grand Auch Cœur de Gascogne exercises responsibilities in several areas of community interest, including economic development, spatial planning, housing, waste management, mobility, urban policy, and support for cultural, sporting and tourism facilities. It also provides support to member communes in managing certain local public services and carrying out structuring projects at the territorial level. Its activities are carried out within the framework of regional and departmental planning policies, in coordination with guidelines set by the State and the Occitanie region.
